Green-fingered Costa Bingo Fans Share Gardening Tips for Spring
Costa Bingo's army of Facebook fans was asked for its gardening tips, advice, and suggestions last week and the fans responded with a wealth of suggestions from 'letting the weeds grow' to 'building a pool'.
Den Brown said: "I think you should be planting a little bit of everything. Cut the grass then get some lovely bedding plants of colour in the garden with a bit of veg on the side. Then get the lounger out, sit back, and relax. Pick up a good book and read away the rest of the day with a nice glass of wine at your side. After all that work, you will have deserved it."
For Mel Wilkinson, the garden was a place for reflection. "You know, gardening never entertained me. I hated it - even mowing the lawn. It's only when I started losing people that I started planting little things. Now my rose bushes are growing and my fig tree is coming on leaps and bounds. I do my garden all the time now and it's a wonderful place to sit and remember my loved ones."
Sarah Campen suggested planting lettuce so she could feed her guinea pig and several people suggested a barbeque to a summer bingo party could be on the cards.
"I'd recommend building a giant swimming pool in your garden complete with a decking dance floor and a poolside bar. Then you could party through the summer nights in style," said Rachel Marie West.
Wendy Charman wanted to keep it all 'bingo' and suggested that Sunny should 'slab out the garden with a patio area and entertain guests with an open air game of bingo'.
Bingo fan Catherine Pugh was keeping everything in a strictly horticultural level: "When we did our garden, we started with a few clovers and daffodils and now that the garden has matured I love the smell of sweet peas early in the morning and the smell of night scented stock in the evening," she said.
"You could try lupins for height and vibrant colours but this all depends on which way the garden faces to benefit most from elements."
There were many tips and ideas suggesting that Costa Bingo has some green-fingered followers but perhaps simplest piece of advice came from Linda Lilley who simple said: "Let the weeds grow round you and have a pint in your hand. Put a sign up that says 'nature reserve' and charge people to visit and make some money," she said.
